The New Covenant
This is
what we are talking about when we talk of “the New Covenant” mentioned
in Hebrews 8 (quoted from Jeremiah 31)
Jeremiah 31:33
33
"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that
time," declares the LORD. "I
will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I
will be their God, and they will be my people.
How are
God’s laws written on somebody’s heart?
In the book of Matthew in the “sermon on the mount,” we see an
example of how Yeshua doesn’t “do away” with the law, rather he makes
the law EVEN STRONGER, condemning also the attitudes that lead to the
breaking of those laws.
Matthew 5:21

You have heard that it was said by them of old time,
you
shall not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the
judgment:
22 But I say unto you, that
whosoever
is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the
judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, “Raca,” shall be in
danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, “You fool”, shall be in
danger of hell fire.
23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that
your brother has ought against you;
24 Leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way; first be
reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
